TESTIMONIALS

"From the perspective of a thirty-year educator, Jeannie is the consummate teacher. She artfully blends exquisite dance skills with a touch of humor and extracts unbelievable results from groups of folks who are oft-times strangers to her and to each other. And she does it all with such incredible patience. I am always amazed. We are so fortunate to have this lovely, talented professional in our midst."

"Thank you for a great first lesson.

I really enjoyed it.

As one who has been a teacher for a few years I am always taking note of teaching/coaching styles and strategies. Obviously, you are a formidable dancer with the greatest expertise. Expertise in a given discipline does not often translate into an ability to teach that skill. However, in your case, your skills in dance are matched by your brilliant teaching.

"I wanted to take a few minutes to tell you how much you have helped my dancing grow. I had learned the steps several years ago and had worked hard to discover the elusive element that takes the steps and transforms them into dancing. No matter how hard I worked, it seemed that I was getting no closer to the goal.

From the first time I saw you dance, I was impressed by how graceful and elegant you were on the dance floor. Somehow, I felt that the key I could not seem to discover was one you had already used to unlock that secret. In the lessons that I have had with you and the lessons that I have observed you give to other people, I have come to appreciate your 'style' off the dance floor as well.

Your students are not Jeannie Clones: A person's style frequently is a reflection of the personality of the dancer. When you work with a student, you first take the time to discover the person underneath. You find out who they are, what motivates them, what makes them happy, and what they are physically able to do. You then use this information to assist your students to become the dancer they are longing to be. Like Michelangelo, I believe that you work, not to shape the student into something he / she is not, but rather to help him / her to release the dancer hidden within. Your analytical assessments are insightful: Your assessment skills to analyze the cause / effect relationships for problem areas are unparalleled. Rarely have I seen other Pro's that have been able to diagnose to the root cause of problems as quickly or accurately as you are capable of regardless whether the problem needs a slight adjustment or a major change in the execution of the move. Your personal interactions are discerning: You convey information in a way that is most appropriate for the student you are helping. Each student learns differently, and I have seen you use many different methods to insure that the student understands what needs to be accomplished and how to make the change. Suggestions are always given in a manor that stretches the student to become better at the task without imparting feelings of negativity or failure. Your students always walk away feeling highly focused, clear about the direction they must take, and extremely motivated to succeed. As you can tell, your dancing, teaching style, technical abilities, and your interactions with your students have made a lasting impression on me. I have come to realize that the elegance and grace you exhibit in your dance are just a manifestation of the person inside. While I continue to work on the many things that I want to change in my dance, I feel that your guidance has helped me to reach my goals much quicker than I ever thought possible.

Thank you so very much,

-Dawn

I would just like to say that it was one of my better moves in deciding to invite Ms. Jeannie Tucker to our first ever Swing Vacation Event in April 2000. She was a delight to work with, very well received by the attendees and did a fantastic job with her workshops. One of the more impressive things was how much time she spent out on the floor dancing with those who come to these Events to simply enjoy the open Dance time. I received nothing but positive comments regarding her conduct, personality and superb performance as part of our show. So much so that I made sure to invite her back for year after year!

Thanks, Jeannie for helping make our Event such a huge success!

Sincerely,

Mark Traynor

What do people say about Jeannie and her coaching?

"I have been dancing West Coast Swing for about 2.5 years and have taken workshops from the best instructors out there and there are only a very few that even come close to you. Your presentation, clarity, emphasis on lead & follow mechanics, and originality are excellent. Her ability to demo both the lead & follow parts is by far the strongest I have ever seen.... Your style as lead is what I ascribe to. Thanks again for such great workshops. I will take your future workshops ahead of anyone else's. I would actively solicit any promoter to include you in his event.

The praise is uttered with spontaneous sincerity, "Jeannie, you are amazing." Jeannie Tucker is certainly that and a great deal more. Jeannie instructs her students with meticulous professionalism while being incredibly empathetic. Jeannie's most endearing quality is the genuine excitement and enthusiasm she shares with her students as they learn to dance. I tried a highly recommended dance studio and though I just didn't have what it takes. Then a friend recommended Jeannie; she is understanding, caring, patient, wonderful and certainly more than I had hoped for; I couldn't be more satisfied! If you want to experience the life enhancing joy and self confidence that comes with knowing how to dance, then you want Jeannie Tucker.

"Probably the most wonderful thing I can say about Jeannie is that she is a gracious and real person. We respect and admire her many talents, but it is her genuine warmth and concern for her students that makes her so special to us.

"I started learning to dance at a local ballroom studio and after spending a few thousand dollars I found that the only place to ballroom dance was at the studios weekly dances and they were not what I was interested in. A friend suggested that I try Jeannie's dance lessons at the Cactus Moon. I found the classes to be difficult, as I had learned nothing at the studio. My partners were equally frustrated with me and I don't think people felt I would ever learn to dance. I even hired someone to practice with me but after a month or so, even she was too embarrassed to be seen with me on the dance floor. Finally, I worked up the courage and good sense to ask Jeannie for private lessons. Now I can dance with anyone from raw beginners to advanced dancers. I'm still not great but I rarely get refusals and occasionally get compliments. One night in Phoenix, I did a fast two-step with a lady who seemed to know what she was doing and I led her through a few patterns with which she was not familiar. Afterwards she remarked that my leads were excellent, and asked where I had learned to dance. I replied, "From Jeannie Tucker, in Tucson." Her eyebrows raised a notch and she noted, "Well, that certainly explains it." I discovered later that she was the resident dance teacher there. I've worked with a dozen dance teachers and comparing Jeannie Tucker to any of them is unfair. She is to dancing like Vince Lombardi is to football, except she's better looking and won't make you practice outdoors in below-zero weather. Many teachers who have mastered dance will only work with advanced students or competitive dancers. Jeannie teaches anyone who is willing to listen, trust and do the practice that is required. She understands not only dancing, but also the mechanics of the human body and the psychology of the dancer wanna-be's. Go to her if you are serious about dancing well and if you truly want to enjoy dancing. Especially, engage Jeannie Tucker if you are willing to fall in love with dancing".

"For the few years that I've been dancing West Coast Swing, Jeannie Tucker has intrigued me with her beauty, talent and competitive spirit. How could anyone be so gorgeous? Don't ask me, ask Jeannie's mom. Not only is she a very nice person who is always willing to share a conversation with dance friends and acquaintance; she's a professional who is truly dedicated to her performance and to her students. She knows her stuff and she's an amazing dancer who never fails to capture everyone's attention as soon as she walks onto the dance floor with her stunning beauty, elegant demeanor, and gorgeous fashion wardrobe. Jeannie's presence on the dance floor is captivating. Her confidence, talent, and dance background need no explanation. I'm sure I am not the only one who wonders what Jeannie's professional background entails and how she has become such a successful competitor in the swing dance community. She is a pleasure to watch in social dance settings as well as an awesome competitor.

Thanks Jeannie, for bring the swing dance community a touch of class."

Hello Jeannie and Aloha from Hawaii,

Just a quick note of appreciation for your incredible dance classes, both at the Paladium and Dream to Dance. For reference, I was the long-haired blond lady that lives way out Leeward. I took your hustle class, as well as a couple of the WCS classes. I am a retired teacher and I know fabulous teaching when I see it. You are the best! Look forward to you coming to Hawaii again.

Most Sincerely,

- Merry

"I had just returned from Tucson, Arizona where I spent a week working with Jeannie. We worked a lot on Basics and we choreographed some cool routines. I asked my regular partner to dance a couple of songs with me and when we finished she said, "Your dancing has improved so much. Not only is your lead and connection better, but you dancing is becoming much more musical." I said thank-you, but all this comes from Jeannie. One of my other dance partners asked me why my anchor seemed to look better and everything felt more like swing. I told her that I had a tough time improving both of these until I worked with Jeannie and she showed me how to break down my anchor into 5-e-and-a-6-e-and-a-1. Her eyes opened wide. I also had posture problems for years and, at the age of 50, it was finally catching up with me. I asked Jeannie to work with me and see where improvements could be made. With her experience and diverse background she was able to focus right in on my needs. I felt improvement in the next couple of days and then was able to drive 825 miles in one day back from the convention. Which would not have been possible without her. Thank-you Jeannie.

1 1/2 years ago I became obsessed with the flow, intricacy, variety of moves and the levels of competency of West Coast Swing. Fortunately, my Tucson wintering led me directly to Jeannie Tucker. Watching Jeannie dance in competition or socially is like watching any fine artist creates beauty. After a while we take her profound skills for granted and luxuriate in them. But when those skills must translate into effective one-on-one, private lessons with me the student, I look for additional, equally important skills-- instructional skills. Jeannie's instructional skills are my greatest dance asset. Her instructional skills are truly the difference between a perpetually mediocre dancer and a competently, evolving one. Jeannie can make the difference between the winning or losing competitor or the pleasurable social dancer and the social dancer who must be accommodated or endured.

Jeannie's inexhaustible patience and commitment to keep pushing you toward your own goals awes me. I often get very frustrated with my failures while Jeannie maintains a professional focus and keeps pushing me until I break through the haze and am once again pleased and confident with myself. She also adapts her instructional style to the student so they are comfortable with Jeannie, themselves and their progress. Jeannie's constant focus is on the fundamentals of Posture, Body Movement and a dance's Basic moves. Many novice dancers make the shortsighted and fatal mistake of moving rapidly through the fundamentals in hot pursuit of fancy moves and syncopations that they use indiscriminately. They never understand or achieve the dancer's posture, competently executed moves, advanced techniques and of course, the highly appreciated West Coast Swing connection. They just swirl in the side eddies of dance often wondering why they do not win competitions or continuously attract the excellent dance partners. Her ability to offer a precise, in-depth explanation of the specific elements when it is asked for is very important to me. She can do this with all the basics, moves and dances she teaches. Equally critical is her ability to explain & illustrate in several different ways what she is instructing, if that is what the student requires. This instructional resource springs from a 30 year dance and performance background and a very analytical mind. This skill serves the expert dancer as well because Jeannie can detect the root cause of an expert's problem with a certain move or technique with little effort. Her constant competition and social dancing keeps these skills up to date and honed. Time and time again, West Coast Swing dancers from novice to advanced have complimented my connection and leads. While this flatters me, that connection and those basics are more Jeannie Tucker's than mine. Now, as I begin the fun evolution toward greater skill in more dances, I have a reasonably solid knowledge and skill base that allows me to understand and execute new techniques, skills, moves and dances correctly and quickly. Jeannie's ability to quickly decipher your technique or complex move, explain the under lying problem and offer a solution is a vital teaching skill. Her years in dance and other performing arts, has honed her ability to analyze and solve dance related problems. Both the novice and the advanced student can be lulled into bad habits that they can't even recognize, let alone correct. Jeannie is the microscope that ferrets out the problem and solution.

Thanks Jeannie.
